For all the obvious reasons, many annual ADGA traditions were put on hold in 2020. By the time November rolled around and it was clear our usual holiday celebrations wouldn’t be feasible, it was suggested that in lieu of office parties and get-togethers we could come together in another way—by giving back to the communities we’re directly involved in. That was when ADGA Gives Back was born.
The premise behind it was simple. Given ADGA’s presence across Canada, why not make it a fully national campaign? Regional team leads were chosen, charities voted on, and events planned. With enough volunteers and coordination, we could reach out to more of the organizations and charities that mattered to ADGA employees in each of our regions. Money that was originally set aside for our own holiday celebrations was instead put towards giving back. Each region was given a set amount that they could donate to their selected charities, then encouraged to raise more.
With gusto and determination, ADGA employees across the country rallied to create a number of virtual fundraising events. Between movie nights, game nights, and even a costume relay, we added significantly to our original tally. The energy behind our efforts proved to be infectious, spreading quickly throughout the company. After being isolated at home for so long, the campaign helped restore the sense of camaraderie that was familiar to us from bfore the pandemic. Though we were unable to be together in person to celebrate the holidays, we were united virtually in our festive cheer and giving spirit.
With a bit of friendly competition lighting the way, ADGA Gives Back 2020 proved to be a huge success, raising $70,000 to benefit charities across Canada. From children’s hospitals and food banks to many other local charities, ADGA employees listened to where the need was great and rallied together in support.
We’re a Canadian company, built by Canadians, for Canadians. Seeing how so many people in our communities were hurting, made us think deeply about what the holidays meant to us and how we could help. At ADGA we have longed believed that our people and their communities have helped shaped us to be as successful as we are. Whether it be through our partners, our clients, or our employees—the backbone of the company—we knew that we couldn’t do nothing when it felt like the world had come to a standstill.
While ADGA continues to support various fundraising events and campaigns throughout the year, such as the Canada Army Run, this was the first time a campaign was created and run by ADGA’s own employees, and we couldn’t be prouder as a company. Which is why we’re excited to announce that ADGA Gives Back is returning for 2021.
